However\, there are many cases where relational storage is either inefficient or overly restrictive. Postgres is a flexible relational database\, designed to be extensible from its inception. One aspect of this extensibility is document storage. \n \n \n \n \n \n Postgres has many features designed to manage document data effortlessly\, including full text search\, JSON\, trigrams\, and specialized indexing methods to allow efficient data access. This talk will cover all of these features. \n \n \n \n \n \n Agenda: \n✅ Why non-relational storage? \n✅ XML: Storing and working with XML documents in Postgres. \n✅ JSON: Native support for storing\, querying\, and manipulating JSON data in Postgres. \n✅ JSONB: Taking JSON handling to the next level with binary JSON in Postgres. \n✅ Character strings: Managing and optimizing document text data. \n✅ Document-optimized indexing: Leveraging specialized indexing methods like trigrams\, GIN\, and GiST for efficient searching and retrieval. \n \n \n \n \n \n The meetup has ended. The recording is available exclusively for registered users. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Watch on demand\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n About the Speaker\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Bruce Momjian\n \n \n \n \n \n Vice PresidentEnterpriseDB \n \n \n \n \n \n Bruce Momjian is co-founder and core team member of the PostgreSQL Global Development Group\, and has worked on PostgreSQL since 1996. No feature\, however\, is as popular as the native JSON support. \nNot only does PostgreSQL offer JSON as a native data type\, it offers binary storage\, indexing\, and native functions to manipulate data in JSON. This makes the database very attractive to developers looking to play with unstructured data. \nJoin us in this fireside chat as Umair asks Jashan about how he started with JSON in PostgreSQL\, what application development issues he was able to solve with the native JSON support\, and how he would advise other developers to use the functionality. \n \n \n \n \n \n Agenda\n \n \n \n \n \n ✅ Beginning the journey with MongoDB and hitting the limit with it. \n✅ Discovering PostgreSQL and its robust ecosystem. \n✅ False perception of JSON = MongoDB and Structured = SQL (Postgres) \n✅ Working with structured vs unstructured data\, the middle road i.e. semi structured data. \n✅ Practical aspects of working with JSON in Postgres\, including use cases\, indexing\, potential pitfalls\, and more. \n \n \n \n \n \n Book your seat at the online meetup or get the video directly to your inbox after the event. \n \n Register to the event\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n About the Speakers\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Umair Shahid\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n FounderStormatics \n \n \n \n \n \n Umair is a 20-year veteran of the PostgreSQL community with a passion for solving real-world problems with technology. His previous experience with commercial PostgreSQL has spanned roles related to professional services and product management in major pure-play PostgreSQL organizations like EDB\, 2ndQuadrant\, OpenSCG\, & Percona. \n \n \n \n \n \n				 Jashanpreet Singh\n \n \n \n \n \n Open Source Developer \n \n \n \n \n \n Jashan is a seasoned developer with years of experience in frontend\, backend\, database and DevOps () roles in startup environments. He specializes in building applications from scratch\, taking them to production\, and scaling them for high availability and performance. His extensive work experience has taught him valuable skills such as writing and reviewing code\, managing teams\, and designing cloud infrastructure. There’s a lot the Document Database community can learn from this experience. \n \n \n \n \n \n Book your seat at the online meetup or get the video directly to your inbox after the event. \n \n Register to the event\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n About Speaker\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Mark Stone\n \n \n \n \n \n ex-Product ManagerDataStax \n \n \n \n \n \n Mark Stone is a technology veteran with many years of experience in product management\, program management and people management.
